Somerset/NS Thoroughbred Bulk Transfer (TBT) Facility

The 34-acre NS TBT is a state-of-the-art facility integrating several modes of transportation designed to handle various bulk products from truck to railcar, railcar to truck with warehousing capabilities.

This facility will allow customers to lower their transportation costs by offering alternate supply chain solutions. The terminal includes six unloading tracks capable of handling a total of 72 rail cars. Somerset is located adjacent to Norfolk Southern’s Cincinnati, OH/Louisville KY to Chattanooga, TN mainline, just south of a classification yard at Danville, KY. Excellent rail service is available to the site, with available switching frequency of 5 days/week, Monday through Friday.

This completely paved facility will include a modern two-bay, 4,500 SF truck wash, with electronically operated roll up doors, boiler system, and storage, shop, and treatment rooms; complete perimeter fencing with cantilevered sliding gate for rail and truck entry, safety and security is maintained via a 24-hour lighted terminal.

The terminal will include an 11-by-70 foot long digital truck scale. The facility will have an onsite experienced Operator that will have the ability to perform various transloads utilizing state-of-the art transload equipment. The facility will be an “open access” terminal allowing third party trucker access.

Industrial Park

The Somerset/NS Thoroughbred Bulk Transfer Terminal features an adjoining industrial park that includes three direct rail-served industrial sites ready for immediate development. These sites are suitable for a variety of distribution, warehouse and light manufacturing uses.

Warehousing

The terminal includes 78,750 SF of direct rail-served warehousing space with 24-foot eave heights, and a dry-pipe sprinkler system. The truck side dock features ten 9-by-10 foot doors with dock shelters and door ramp levelers. The rail side includes a continuous 15-foot concrete apron with a 20-foot cantilevered roof overhang to provide covered handling of products. Adjacent to the warehouse is a 2-acre outdoor storage area for large bulk products.
